The Path To The Throne

(All scripture references are from the NKJV Bible)

Where Is The Throne Room?

According to Paul, we who believe in Jesus have been raised up from spiritual death and are seated with Him in a
heavenly realm

Eph 2:5-6
5even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6and
raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,

So where exactly is this heavenly place where we are supposed to be seated with Jesus? It is God’s own throne room –
the throne of Grace, the dwelling place of the Almighty. How did we get here?

Eph 2:8
8For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,

This throne room is the seat of all power and dominion. It is the place where God rules over all principalities and powers,
and reigns over the affairs of men. Here in His throne room, God monitors every move of Satan, and examines every
thought of man. And Christ Himself is seated at the right hand of the Father. Scripture tells us “All things were made by
Him”
(John 1:3) and “In Him dwelleth the Godhead bodily” (Col 2:9)

In Jesus resides all wisdom and peace, all power and strength, everything needed to live a victorious, fruitful life. And we’
re given access to all those riches that are in Christ.

Paul is telling us that as surely as Christ was raised up from the dead, we were raised up with Him by the Father. And as
surely as Jesus was taken to the throne room to sit by the Father’s side, we have been taken with Him to the same
glorious place. Because we are in Him, we are also where He is. That is the privilege of all believers. It means that we
are seated with Him in the same heavenly place that He dwells.

Many believers confess that they don’t experience this truth in their daily lives. We do not have to look at the example of
the troubled, despairing church to see this. All we have to do is to take a look at our own lives, and our own walk with
Christ. Many are downcast and fearful. They go to church and sing praises to God, and testify of His overcoming power
in their lives. But many of these same Christians live a life of ups and downs, being overwhelmed with worldly cares and
troubles. And when they face trials, they’re totally bowled over, with their faith collapsing in a heap. This does not reflect
the heavenly life Paul describes, nor does it resemble anything that we hoped or imagined the Throne Life to be like.

Where we run into trouble and doubt is that we know Christ is seated at the right hand of the Father in the throne room,
but we cannot comprehend or believe that we are there too. Jesus told us that He was going to prepare a place for us.
He did not mean ONLY after He comes back, or after we’re dead, but in the here and now also. Paul declares that God
has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places with Christ

Eph 1:20-23
20which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly
places,
21far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this
age but also in that which is to come.
22And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, 23which is His body, the
fullness of Him who fills all in all.

Pay close attention to WHERE Paul says all spiritual blessings are bestowed – HEAVENLY PLACES IN CHRIST (Throne
Room).

Eph 1:3
3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the
heavenly places in Christ,

So why are so many well intentioned and seemingly well versed Christians missing out on these things? Paul makes it
crystal clear: to have the blessings of Christ flow through us, we have to be seated with Jesus in the throne room of
heaven.

Satan is wreaking havoc in God’s house, and he isn’t being challenged. Instead he goes about freely deceiving many in
Christ’s body (church), causing despair and confusion, and bringing ruin to many lifelong servants of Christ. A
Sociologist
who is an agnostic wrote a book on the condition of the modern church. He had this to say: “Far from living
in the heavenlies, the faithful are remarkably just like the rest of the secular world. In practice, they are not the way they
are supposed to be in their theology. The culture has trampled over them. Talk of hell, damnation, and even sin has
been replaced by non-judgmental language of understanding and empathy”.

It would seem the church has caved in, giving in to the troubles all around us. We no longer seem to be focused on
Christ’s victory, or living a victorious and overcoming life.

The truth is, the world, and the church have always had these troubles. A powerful and very popular Newark, New
Jersey preacher has preached many, many sermons on
“The Wilderness Of Darkness”. These sermons are about
how darkness was enveloping America, and the church has gone the way of apathy and worldliness. He also preached
about the false doctrines and cults that were springing up all over America like a plague. He talked about how the
church was bowing to the worldly ways, and empathy and non-judgmental characteristics of the church were growing.
This was in 1860!

According to Paul, “God’s mighty power, which He wrought in Christ Jesus when He raised Him from the dead, and set
Him at His right hand in the heavenly places”
is the same “exceeding greatness of His power to usward who believe”

Ephesians 1:19-20
19 and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty
power
20 which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly
places

Paul also tells us to examine ourselves to determine if we are in the faith

2 Cor 13:5
5Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ
is in you?—unless indeed you are disqualified.

So how do I examine myself to see if I am walking and trusting in the faith? We do it by measuring ourselves against the
awesome promises of God. We should ask ourselves:

1.  Do I draw on Christ’s resources to resist the Satan?
2.  Do I access His power to overcome sin?
3.  Do I live continually in the joy, peace, love, and rest that Jesus has promised to every believer
   without exception?

If you do not see this throne life in yourself, you can conclude that you haven’t yet appropriated the heavenly position
you’ve been given in Christ. If you can’t see His mighty power at work in you, then you haven’t taken your place in Him.

The Great Awakening

Your personal Great Awakening comes the day you look at your life and cry out ”There has to be more to Christ
than what I am living. All my plans have unraveled, all my dreams have been shattered. I am living as a slave to
my fears and fleshly lusts. I just can’t do this any longer”.

The Great Awakening happens when you realize that you are not living the fulfilling Christian life that you are meant to
live simply because your heart has not claimed your rightful place with Jesus in the throne room. Everything that you do
that will bring you closer to Jesus, and let you start experiencing that wonderful joy, peace, and power that was
promised us comes from a true, selfless heart. When you go before God and tell Him that you don’t want to live life like
this anymore, that you want to do whatever it is that He wants you to do
instead of what YOU want to do, and mean it
with all of your heart
, then you are going to experience the Great Awakening. This is the point where we finally just
let go of ourselves, and tell God that we want to serve Him, and please Him simply because we want to do it (instead of
doing it because we have to, or are supposed to). We tell God that we love Him so much that we just want to do what He
wants us to do, simply because we love Him so much, and just want to please Him. When we do this, and it truly comes
from the heart (dong it without wanting anything in return except His love and closeness)
HOLD ONTO YOUR SHORTS!
Your whole life is about to change!

God takes great pleasure in the sacrifice of one’s self when it comes from the heart. This sacrifice involves the death of
our self, our will, and our way. We have let our old selves, our ambitions, our pride, our search for pleasure and gain
literally die, and have now committed ourselves to be guided solely by God’s Perfect Will. We have agreed to let the
Holy Spirit search our hearts each day, and lead us closer to Him. In this closeness to Him, we truly will start to live a life
with meaning and purpose - full of the love, joy, peace, happiness, and excitement that we should have been
experiencing all along.
